150 mm Metric Black Chrome, Zero-Glare Machinist Ruler with Markings .5 mm, mm Both Sides

Since it is marked on one edge in half millimeters, I would give it a 4.85 if Amazon's scale was as precise. I love the black background, which is helpful in my work as a botanist. Some things like tiny plant hairs show up much better against a black background. It looks grey without magnification, because it appears to have been machined or something after the black was presumably electrostatically applied. A minor issue, and everything else about it I love. The use of longer lines for 2 and 3 vs 1 and 4 (still shorter than 0 and 5) make it easier to distinguish these gradation; nice feature (innovation?)!

Easy to read, high contrast, very sturdy and durable. Mine rides in my tool box all over the world.

Awesome steel rule. I really like that it's black instead of shiny because reflections freak my dog out. My new favorite ruler.

The metal color does tend to change/fade/darken/stain after some use (the reason for 4 stars and not 5). This makes reading it more difficult and taking clear photographs of measurements more difficult. Overall though a sturdy product.

Its divisions agreed with those of several other rulers I have. So it appears to be accurate. There is no blank space before the start of the markings and this makes the ruler useful for measuring depth. I find the horizontal millimeter markings somewhat confusing to read, because they are not all the same length. Otherwise, it is a fine ruler.

I have mixed feelings about the product. First off the markings are highly visible. Much Better than the cheap steel rule it replaced. But it not as black as the picture. Also the finish was quite scratched even though it came in a plastic sleeve. The steel seems hard. I've already dropped it on concrete right on the corner and there was no damage. For 7 bucks it's an ok ruler. I'd probably buy again over a cheep steel rule.

i needed this ruler for measuring some loose stones that I have to make jewelry. It's just what I wanted. However, I was surprised to see the California warning label for toxic material attached to the package. I don't know if it is the paint or the metal that they are scared of, but I'm keeping it. I'll just make sure not to rub it all over myself or put it in my mouth!

These are very easy to use. I had bought one in inches a few months before and got these as it's easier to divide material into sections using metric scales versus English scales. The measurements are a true zero from the ends and the white markings on the black background makes them very easy to read.
