I initially bought a cheaper Unit but quickly realised my error, so immediately spent a bit more and ordered the Gardena. It was money well spent.. Very easy to use. The manual override (simple button with a tap on it) is really easy and can be programmed for an hour or just 10 minutes if you want. And it remembers the programmes you have entered - so you can have it in auto programme mode and override to manual briefly or you can be in no programme mode and immediately turn the tap on for an hour.The cheaper products can't do this. Robust too and the angle of the display means you can actually read it. the ones that aren't angled are very difficult to read !!

Just like the master units, we got a bunch of these in the summer. They worked flawlessly until the first frost when over half of them burst. There's a small icon on the packet to indicate they should be protected from frost but it's an expensive mistake to make and it should be much more obvious that they have minimal resilience to the cold.

I’ve had a Hozelock irrigation system for 20 odd years and thought it was time to replace the control unit. I have gradually been replacing Hozelock items with Gardena, not least because they look so much smarter. This unit was very easy to set up and I like the fact that it has regular hose connectors and that you can put the pressure reducer in the hose rather than on the bottom of the controller. All of the Hozelock pipe work was fine with the Gardena - I just connected the 13mm hose to the pressure reducer and it was all done. Looks smart.

Highly reliable, we use approximately 100 per year and the do a professional job

I purchased this controller to water two areas of my garden at a specified time of day, I also used a Y connector for the two hoses used, the timer worked perfectly and my plants and flowers were as fresh as when I left home for just over two weeks away on holiday. A great product I highly recommend.

Intuitive set up and watering works

Was good while it lasted, but within a year of use (I kept it inside over winter to avoid the frost causing issues as mentioned by other reviews) I noticed a leak.On closer inspection there's a hair line crack in the plastic which is either due to material fault or poor design and probably the same root cause as of similarly reported problems in other reviews.I would've expected Gardena to replace the faulty part, but instead they shift the responsibility to the retailer (in my case Amazon), which is clearly just a decoy tactic and not how these sort of after sale issues are typically handled.I would advise against this product and I'm unlikely to go ahead with other gardens products in the future due to their poor customer support.
