Color Pictures, Hardcover, awesome anniversary MGB Owners Workshop Manual
I was browsing around the web when I saw that Haynes had published an anniversary edition of the venerable MGB Workshop Manual, so I had to check out Amazon to read more about it.The first thing you notice is the manual is a hardcover, unlike the original. All the photographs were shot in full color, unlike the dark, murky pictures in the original manual. It seems that all the original text was kept, they just updated some parts of the manual, but if you have the original manual, this will be very familiar to you.I purchased this, not so much to use in the shop, but as something to add to my ever expanding collection of MG related books. I would recommend you do the same.

Nice reprint with better quality. This one doesn't go to the garage.
Nice update to an old favorite! This isn't the book to buy for use in the garage while you are repairing your car.Get the paperback for that. This one goes in the house or with the garage queen.

Showing its age!
Poor quality photos that haven't changed since it was first published. It tries to cover too much, and consequently does very little well. There are some good bits, but with so much MG resource on the Web, I have not used mine anywhere near as much as I expected.

Refitting is the reverse of the above
You still cannot beat Haynes for the way they manage to get so much information into what is actually a compact workshop manual. The way they do this of course is to break big jobs down into smaller ones - so although there is only a couple of paragraphs on how to take the pistons out, you have to have gone through the preceeding 20 paragraphs first. We won't even mention 'Refitting is the reverse of above'.For mechanicals - you won't get much better than this, and the full colour photos make a real difference, and an excellent companion to this is the manual which just deals with the electricals. Clinical and basic
It’s okay but not too useful for all repairs and upgrades. It’s like reading the ingredients without the recipe

This book is of high quality, with colour pictures and lots of details. As all other Haynes manuals, you get the full procedures for how to dismantle, inspect and rebuid your car. Still, I don't find it (the Haynes series overall) very practical for daily wrenching. It should at least be a simpler how-to on normal maintenance tasks - like e.g. setting points and lubricating the front end.
