My personal favorite flashlight
I used this flashlight everyday for years as a home inspector. The charge holds for a long time, it’s durable and the brightness settings are perfect when I’m taking different types of pictures for work.I bought a second just in case I loose the first one. I would buy another on instantly. I wish I left a review sooner!!!

Best Self Defense Flashlight for Office Professionals
I bought this flashlight mostly to be a self-defense weapon that I can carry anywhere, including in a medical office setting. I also wanted one that was useful for other lighting tasks. So, I needed something really powerful, that can fit in a dress shirt pocket, and not look too much like a weapon.High lumens are important, but not the only factor that makes a flashlight effective for self defense. It also needs to focus the light into a bright spot. This light has a smooth deep reflector that does just that. The spot is also wide enough to cover an attacker's entire visual field. The color of the light adds to its intensity. The length is not too long, and not too short. If stand the light straight up in my shirt pocket, it does protrude above the pocket a little. If I let it slip diagonally, It is pretty much concealed, and no one has commented on it. When I grasp it in my palm, it extends an inch and a half from the side of my hand. That is the perfect size for a striking weapon. It's a pretty light, with the smooth black finish and gold side switch. It has a serrated bezel that makes it an effective striking or scraping weapon. It does not have aggressive crenellation, that can ruin a pocket or scare the staff if pull it out for other uses. The knurling consists of horizontal grooves, which is the most effective pattern to prevent it from slipping out of my hand if I do strike with it.A classic recommendation for a self defense flashlight is that the operation is simple, and it will turn on at the greatest intensity, with a focused spot and not accidentally slip into non fighting modes like SOS or low light. One strategy is a light that only has one mode, and no variable focus. Then the light is only effective for self dense or seeing long distances. Other lights have multiple modes, and come on at the brightest mode, but if you hit the switch again, it will switch to the lowest intensity. Some lights have complicated programs, to make it turn on and stay in the desired mode. This light simply turns on in the mode it was last on, and unless you hit the side switch, it will not go into other modes. If you hold the side switch down, It will go into an irregular strobe pattern that is really disorienting.Boy, this has been a long review. I hope it is useful to someone.

nice and bright
This feels like a premium product. Some coworkers have them so I had to get my own. It's got a pretty durable casing and plenty of light. Small enough for EDC with the holster or in a tool belt. The 5 brightness settings and brightness memory are 2 nice features.

Bright compact flashlight
Fenix PD36R V2.0 1700 Lumen USB-C Rechargeable Tactical FlashlightIncredibly bright (love it) for a compact light. Fits perfectly in my hand. I like the rechargeable battery and battery indicator. I read the reviews prior to purchasing this flashlight. Yes, the body does get hot quickly on turbo and warm when charging. I will still keep it as a backup. I have an old Luxpro flashlight (not rechargeable) that doesn’t get hot. I use a flashlight to look into my backyard to help me identify whether or not there are any skunks before I let my dog out.

A great little light, but a bit awkward to use
This is a great little flashlight, albeit a little heavier than expected. The lowest setting is good enough for walking in a dark room, and in turbo mode it's able to light up tree's hundreds of feet away, With that said, I found that having the on/off switch in the cap and the mode selector switch on the body to be a little awkward to use. Additionally, the mode selector button is so tiny and flush with the body that it's almost impossible to find by feel with your thumb, especially in the dark. I think if the glow ring around the mode switch stayed on all the time, it's be a lot easier to find and use the mode selector in the dark.

Best Tactical / Duty Flashlight - Insanely Bright & Durable!
The media could not be loaded. Here is the Standard Review for the Fenix PD36R 1,700 Lumen Rechargeable Flashlight. As a first responder working the overnight shift, the ability to illuminate a dangerous situation is critical. The Fenix lights up the night with its 1,700 Lumen power intensity. There are five intensity settings. There is also a tactical mode to draw attention in the event of an emergency or to disorient a target. I carry one on my vest and another in my duty bag. This flashlight stands up to the toughest environments, drops, falls, roll arounds, rain and saltwater.

Awesome everyday flashlight
Officially, the Fenix PD36R has been replaced by the newer PD36R Pro -- but I still prefer this older model. The Pro is brighter, but that also means it gets hotter -- this model is "bright enough" for my home usage, and I don't generally use it while wearing gloves (so the heat a flashlight generates can be an issue). The Pro also moves the mode selection button to the rear of the flashlight, next to the power button -- that's maybe a better place for tactical / law enforcement application, but I prefer to keep them separated (less chance I'll inadvertently hit the "wrong" button). The Pro also allows for purchase / installation of a remote pressure switch -- great if you'll be mounting the flashlight to the barrel of a shotgun, but not necessary for my usage. So if you really need a flashlight for use in military or law enforcement situations, this is likely not your solution. For more typical everyday use around the house, it's awesome!
