Q: Where can i order the cloth that makes the flame

Not sure if you can order the cloth, but mine was simply a white silky material connected to the base with magnets (I think the light gives it the color). So I don't why you couldn't simply buy your own, cut it into strips and attached it to the base with magnets.

Q: Is there a product like this that is like a campfire? Or can this product be modified to produce the same effect as a campfire?

We have sold this to Boy Scout groups for years and they use them for faux campfire. They would put wood around the unit and and this in the center. I am not sure why or how you would would modify. There is a larger version from Chauvet called the Firebird and the Enferno mentioned below from ADJ we sell them both, but they are the same effect, just "taller" and "larger" "flame" effect.

Q: can the flame sack be cut in such a way as to get more flowing realistic flames?

The "flame" is just a piece of silk with 2 magnets glued to the bottom. You could cut it, but I don't know if it would improve it. You could make other flames with your own silk and magnets .

Q: Is the fan too loud to use in a theatrical performance? Could the light reflecting of the sides be seen in a 55 gallon drum?

i used this effect for The Wiz. The fans were actually relatively quiet. Great illumination with sharp flame color. im not sure i totally understand your question regarding the 55 gal drum.
