Tubby Standard Bath Resurfacing Kit (White)

I have just refurbished our bathroom and used this to restore our old, tired cast iron bath. It was a cheaper option to replacing the bath. I have installed a shower as part of the refurbishment and we wanted to keep the cast iron tub because it’s strong and doesn’t flex when stood in.Prior to using the Tubby kit, I used P38 car body filler to to repair some large chips and also to fill a couple of holes left from removing a bath handle. During this process, I sanded the entire bath while sanding the P38 filler.After I’d done all the filling and sanding, I cleaned and I sanded the tub again using the cleaning powder and sand paper provided in the kit.Since I was replacing the taps and fittings, I removed them all prior to applying the Tubby coating. Making sure to sand any rust away on any exposed metal.Applying the coating was straight forward but the fumes were horrible. It was hot weather and a small bathroom 2m x 2m and even with the window open, I was consumed by the fumes.Leaning over the bath to paint and roller, I was just breathing in fumes even with the mask.After the first coat, I vacated the bathroom and could taste vapours / fumes every-time I coughed.So I recommend some sort of respirator mask with this product.After the second coat, I left the bath for 48 hours to do its curing and I was more than happy with tje end result. The bath was gleaming white and looking like new!And yes, you do get a slightly dimpled finish rather than a smooth glass finish, and I knew this before buying the kit BUT it really isn’t that bad or obvious. You have to look quite close to notice it.Overall, I am pleased with the results so far.Time will be the biggest deciding factor overall. Will it still look this good in 1 year, 2 years, 5 years?I will follow all the after-care instructions regarding cleaning and maintenance and we will see.I have added before and after pictures for others reading this review. Excellent instructions (checkout the good YouTube demo too) made this quick and easy work. If you can use a paint roller or brush you can do this easily. Follow the instructions, as recommended on YouTube, We DIDN'T rush or skimp the preparation and we got a great result. You really don't need to be a diy expert! The pack had absolutely everything to complete the task, including protective wear. We made sure bathroom was well ventilated and encountered no problems. I say "we", but my husband easily did this on his own! VERY impressed with the finish on the bath, saved us the problem and extra cost of removing and disposing of the old bath and buying and fitting another. Cost effective and quality finish. Would definitely use again and recommend this product highly.

this is my first review of anything, and I buy a lot from Amazon. I really couldn't afford to have my bathroom ripped out and replaced, so I read the reviews and had a go myself-easy, great results. Everything you need is provided. I'm kind of an impatient d.i.y person, so my finish, though great, is slightly mottled by the texture of the roller, but Im really happy with the results.Beautiful, bright, white and glossy!

I did a lot of research on this product and was a little concerned about the 'orange peel' finish a lot of reviewers mentioned. After 2 years of um'ing and ah'ing I finally bit the bullet and bought this product - my bath was seriously greyed by an accumulation of lime (from the heavy lime water we have in this area) and no amount of scrubbing with an wide variety of cleaning products would remove it. It was also pitted in some areas and rust was showing. This product provided the solution. I must confess that while I did prepare the surface, the main reason for requiring the product remained an issue before application and I didn't put as much elbow grease into the sanding as I probably could have - I was keen to get on with it in all honesty. I was amazed at how the first coat totally covered the limescale build up on the surface of the bath and provided one even and consistent white. I almost stopped there, but followed the instructions and applied the second coat. I had a lot of paint remaining and had applied both coats generously. My bath is now a beautiful shining and pristine white. It does have an 'orange peel' surface - which I absolutely love - it shimmers in light and my girlie heart is full, so anyone who is undecided in respect of this note - this is Far from a detraction, it's a Bonus!

We moved into a house with an old rolltop bath which had not had a good life. Stains and worn out patches all over.I was not expecting much from using this product but WOW! You need to read the instructions well and do exactly as they tell you. Good cleaning is essential.I finished all the preperation in a day and applied the first coat. To start with I was not totally impressed but after applying the second coat the bath looks superb. I had enough left over and I think I should have used that for the firs coat but it doesn't matter. Our bath now looks superb.We have a few specs of dirt captured in the new coat (totally my fault) which will wear away and we have what looks like a brand new bath.

I have the original old cast iron bath in my flat which as you can see from the picture was discoloured and had some lime scale on that would not wash off. Quotes to get it re -covered were £450 plus. Found this kit and thought I'd give it whirl as reviews were good. Am very happy to say the reviews were correct. My flatmate and I sanded it down and then I applied the two coats. You definitely need the windows open as this stuff is very strong! But, it's been three weeks now, which I thought I would wait than rush to review. The bath looks epic, had lots of compliments about it too. Great product and would absolutely recommend it. Thanks.
