They can work well even with high power draw GPUs, but it varies between systems
I've installed a lot of these at work, and they're great for what we need, but it can be hit or miss depending on your setup. The SATA power limit hasn't been an issue even up to running 5090s - big GPUs generally draw most of what they need straight from the PSU rather than through the PCIe slot.Knocked off a star because the power connectors are flimsy, even considering the low cost. They're just held in place by the solder pins and easy to snap off if the SATA connector is stiff or if they get knocked about in shipping. There should really be adhesive or a couple of M3 bolts on there for mechanical strength. They seem to work well with x4x4x4x4 bifurcation adapters on CPU-direct PCIe lanes, and hit gen 4.0 speeds no problem with high quality oculink cables. The PCIe speed needs to be set to 4.0 specifically in the BIOS (or 3.0 if you're still having issues), our systems won't boot at all if it's left on auto but are totally solid when set manually.Using them with NVMe adapters or slots that use chipset PCIe lanes seems to be a lot less reliable, so it's pretty much down to luck if that'll work for your specific motherboard and GPU or not.

Design is invalid
"Powered" by a single sata connector, but SATA connectors don't provide enough current for a PCIe slot.

Does not work with modern Graphics cards
I purchased this thinking it would fit better in my oculink egpu enclosure than the 24pin ATX model as it was listed as working with graphics cards. It did not work with my RTX 4070 and the main reason i think this is, is that after researching, I do not believe Sata can deliver enough power through the pci-e slot for a modern graphics card. I ended up going back to the 24pin atx connector and using a 90 degree angle adapter to get it to fit. My guess is this is for other pci-e cards like wifi network or sound card etc. Thankfully I returned it and got a full refund without problem. They should not list graphics cards in its description in my opinion.
