A very cost effective way to protect your cable connection
I had surge protector w/o cable connection so I purchased these. Easy to install and hope they work as I had lightning run in on cable that was properly grounded with 8' ground rod and ground clamps.

Keep your tv from being fried by lightning.
Hope it works

No signal degradation
I installed this between my outdoor antenna and TV. I hope I never find out how well it works. All I can say is that it has not degraded the quality of the signal.

No performance degradation noted. Needed lightning surge protection for coax based system
4 stars overall, 5 stars for price and ease of installation - as actual surge protection is TBD. Purchased and installed the VCE 2-Pack Coaxial Surge Lightning Protector for Cable TV and Satellite (in-line 75 Ohm 5-2500MHz) holding the 2nd protector in reserve. These are NOT waterproof for outdoor use per the mgfr and must be protected from weather. Mgfr product site states "Note: not used for cable modem."Over a bit more than several years, we've sustained two sets of blown out cable modems and routers due to close lightning hits and surges through the coax (broadband/ TV/ Phone service). We're located in an area that experiences big lightning storms throughout the year. After installing the VCE protector NO degradation of the high speed broadband performance (up and download speeds measured before & after VCE install), TV signal quality, or broadband phone service, was noted. Had another gully washer of a storm with rain, hail, lightning and thunder but no surge problems to test out the VCE coaxial surge lightning protector - so we'll have to see how it goes in the future...

Cable TV can suffer from surges
Over the last few months my cable TV service kept turning off with no warning. After much back and forth with the provider, a change of the cable console, and a change of the TV electrical surge suppressor the service continued dropping suddenly as it was before. This ended when I found this cable surge suppressor. I added this to my system and the service stopped dropping suddenly. I must say that I am very happy with the results, and to make things better, this cable suppressor is inexpensive, easy to install, and uses minimal space. Very nice indeed.

so far so good- hope it's never needed
it's hard to review a surge protector since I hope I never have to find out if it works as advertised. what I can say is installation is a breeze, and I have noticed no drop in signal or picture quality. it should work best if installed just before a correctly installed grounding block. don't expect this to protect against a direct lightning strike as high voltage will just arc across any protector, but it will help against nearby strikes causing lower voltage surges. having your mast correctly grounded will also assist in dispersing surges and may prolong the life of all your equipment including the surge protector. This surge protector comes in a 2-pack which is handy to keep a spare in the event one does get burned out- they are one time protect disposables after all and you will have no signal until it is replaced or removed.

Absolutely required for an outdoor antenna install
Luckily, I have not needed to test these as no lightning has gotten through, unless these just block without burning out. I have one near the antenna, a second one just before the power booster installed on my UPS coax input. I tested the picture quality without them and there is no signal degradation. Absolutely a must for storm prone areas.
