Bayco KW-110 Cord Reel, Orange

Great for light duty use at home

This does the job, neatly storing 100 ft of 16/3 cord and allowing me to wind and unwind it without twisting the cord, which means the cord does not tangle.I did have to trim some injection molding artifacts before it would work at all. Plastic tabs at the point where the resin goes into the mold prevent the reel from turning on its holder. I trimmed them off with a razor knife.I have two of them; both were the same.A minor design weakness: no provision exists for securing the free end of the cord.On the other hand, the inside end can be secured in such a way that it is accessible with the cord still wound up, which is great, because it means you can use the cord without unwinding the whole thing.

I purchased three of these reels for XLR cable management, and their smaller size (around 11" in diameter, not the listed 12", which actually worked in my favor) was exactly what I needed. However, the manufacturing quality is pretty poor.All three reels had significant casting problems that prevented them from turning smoothly. I had to use a Dremel tool to clean them up, which isn't something a customer should have to do. While casting flash elsewhere might be acceptable, it's a critical issue on the reel mechanism. Plus, one of the knobs was so loose it was nearly falling off.Despite these issues, for under $10 each, I'm okay with them, especially since I removed the handles to facilitate stacking. Just be prepared for some potential clean-up and quality control issues if you buy these.
