XYK ReadMate LED Lighted Desktop Magnifying Glass with up to 5X Magnification - Carrying Case Included

I wanted something to help reading blueprints and drawings at work, and I didn't want to just get something that's a little more awkward like a plain magnifying glass. I had a 'throwaway' type magnifying globe that was a sample given to me by a customer and I really liked it, but unfortunately I lent it to someone and they promptly dropped it and broke it. So I looked around and found this. After getting it, I really love it. It magnifies great and the LED light really makes things stand out, it's a great extra feature for something like this. It even comes with a case that you can use to store it in and keep it clean...but that's where the design flaw comes in. To activate the light, you press down on the the top of it, and then you do the same to turn it off. The only issues is, the case is so tight, that if you put the magnifier in the case and try and zip it closed, it turns the light on. And if you didn't realize this and didn't break it out again for awhile, the next time you went to use it, you may find dead batteries. I found that you can keep it in the case, you can even close the case gently, but you can't zip it closed without the light coming on. Beyond that, I love it.

I received the product and used it a few times when the light would not shut. The on/off switch is to press the outer ring and when I pressed it, it dimmed but would not turn off. The company read my review and sent me a replacement free of charge and it has worked just fine. Thanks for the awesome customer service

Good product for the money,give it 4 stars only because the push on top light switch is easily turned on when securing it in the protective case

It is great..light is a nice touch. Wish it had a stronger magnification...of course this is my fault for being that hard to aee!! Highly recommend. It is nice product!

This magnifier is extremely good. The fact that it lights up makes it a great deal and helps to really see the small details of the items I'm working on.

The battery cover is a little hard to remove; probably a good thing. But otherwise this is a great little tool; super useful with small print and details.

I purchased this to replace a magnifier my Mother had been using that broke. The unit has a strong lens which she uses to read mail and print, this aids her with the macular degeneration she has and for the cost it is a very strong tool that is used all the time . The led lighting does aid in a dim setting.

This is an excellent compact magnifier and the light makes it exceptional. The only thing I would improve is the case. Sometimes the light is turned on when closing and zipping the case so the battery is drained without knowing it until you open the case again.
