MSA86537 Elastic Headband Kit for Comfo Classic Respirator

Have used MSA Comfo dust masks for years. They are extremely comfortable, even in hot weather (such as cutting grass in a dusty environment). However, wearing them in the sun, storing them in heat, stretching the elastic all eventually degrade the elastic straps that hold the mask on. This kit replaces that worn out elastic and makes the mask like new.There are no directions included, but once you open the pack, it is pretty self evident: Unsnap and replace one strap at a time, taking care to install the replacement exactly like the one you removed. The snaps that hold the elastic straps on may get tight with age, so a putty knife may be useful to unsnap the old one. Snapping the new one on is easier with a pair of slip joint pliers (Channellocks). If you put the new strap on pointing exactly in the same direction as the old one, it makes the strap lay flat instead of leaving a twist you have to adjust out by turning the snapped on strap at the snap. Adjust straps to comfortable length. Check mask adjustment (Cover exhale port with your hand. Exhale hard. If exhalation is leaking around the mask, tighten straps more.)

I'm still glad to find these just a bit of quality lost in the clip connecting the two ends together compared to the originals. The dimple is a bit off and the two ends won't snap together and let the connection articulate the way it should. I could thread the old piece on if it bothered me enough.

Replaced the original headband that had lost its elasticity. The headband works well and restores the respirator to as new functionality.
