Good and loud! I have a different brand that looks about the same but not as sharp sound and as loud as this. Bought it for when walking my dog here in central Florida where we have coyotes in the neighborhood. Didn't want an air horn that could cause hearing loss if I used it. This style whistle all look very similar but do have difference in sound. This is a good one.

Warn everyone in the room to cover their ears when your testing it. My wife tried them out and complained they weren't very loud. Turns out she wasn't blowing very hard. I took it and blew sharply and we nearly blew out our ears! It should work well in an emergency to signal for help.

I bought these whistle to attach to my water rescue PFD. They are low profile and am sturdy enough to survive whatever you(reasonably) throw at them. The loops on my whistle were almost 2 feet long (over 3 feet of cord). I secured the whistle to my PFD then tucked the whistle and courage into the pocket neatly. The whistle is surprisingly loud and very shrill. It'll definitely give you a really good chance at being heard.Overall 10/10.

This whistle is okay. The pros are the orange color that make it easy to see in all lighting and backdrops and that it comes with both a lanyard and a clip for convenient access in an emergency. However, it's not that loud. I tested it in the park today, and the sound is kind of breathy. I would estimate that it could be heard at a maximum of a half mile away. I'll keep it though - it does carry further than the human voice, and I'm using it only for easy to moderate trails during the 4th of July week in Acadia, when the park is at its most crowded. So the distance heard isn't so critical. But if you're going into more remote areas, you'll need a better whistle than this.
