Ceramic non-stick coating a game changer
We had an old Cuisinart panini press that we mostly just used to make grilled cheese. One of those meals the kids can make themselves when Mom or Dad aren't around to provide more elaborate sustenance. However, it was a pain in the butt to clean. The cooking plates were not detachable, and you obviously couldn't submerge the whole thing. So it was mostly just trying to wipe the surface as clean as possible...which was never completely clean. And after 10 years or so of good use, I noticed that the non-stick surface was starting to peel. In the trash it went and onto Amazon. We've been trying to cut back heavily on the non-stick, teflon type cookware in the house. I figure it's probably not good for you. And we've mostly gotten rid of anything "non-stick" and replaced with glass, stainless steel or cast iron. But something like a panini press is so darn convenient, vs a stove-top cast iron press, I was willing bend the rules. Then I saw that this GreenPan press has a ceramic non-stick coating, which is likely less toxic than some variation of plastic. So I gave it a try. It's a solid piece of equipment, fairly heavy and seems well made. Good first impression. You can set a custom temperature and select whether one or both plates will be heated. It lets you know when it's warm and then invites you to set a timer for the cooking process. This is all in the "nice to have" category for me. I wanted something that did a good job of making a hot sandwich, without much thought. It definitely does the job there. The ceramic plates are a game changer. No fat needed. Honestly, you have to make sure the plates are balanced around whatever you are cooking, or the tendency is for your sandwich to slide itself over to one end or another when you bring the top plate down! My son immediately commented that it makes a much better grilled cheese than the old one. Cheese melted before the bread starts to get too dark. My daughter has switched her favorite meal on account of this thing. I've done burgers a couple times as well, something I wouldn't have even considered on a kitchen gadget like this. It cooks a great burger, and super fast! So, how about cleanup? Well, the plates pop right off and everything comes off super easy in soap and water. It's about as easy as you can ask for, in that sense. Cleaning the rest of it isn't quite as much fun. The grease tray in the back is long, deepish, and narrow, so it's kind of a top-rack-of-dishwasher sort of item. And wiping down the machine itself, well, it's a piece of electronics, so you have to be fairly careful. Perhaps the burgers weren't the best idea...but cleaning up after a sandwich is a 2 minute affair, including toweling the plates dry and putting the thing away (my wife hates when kitchen "gadgets" are left out on the counter).Anyway, very happy overall! Yes, it's a bit pricey, but in this case, I feel like you get what you pay for. The ceramic coated plates are a game changer, it actually cooks quite well, it's well made, has a good feature set and it's better to clean up than similar devices I've had in the past. 5 stars for me.

Better than the Cuisinart griddler
Unlike the Cuisinart griddler, this electric grill has plates that do not contain PFOA. I have previously owned the Cuisinart Griddler and it was never easy to clean. The GreenPan grill/griddle is much easier to clean, even though some foods will stick and require a bit of scrubbing to remove. This grill/griddle is not as intuitive to use, but it’s not hard to figure out. It takes a long time to preheat, but it sears well and cooks veggies very quickly. We have not used it with meat. It’s a great indoor grill

Stopped working after 4 months
I love this grill and it’s one of the only ones without toxic chemicals but it stopped working after 4 months of occasional use. It arrived in April and I’ve used it on average once every 2 weeks and I was very pleased with it. I wipe it clean after each use and keep it clean. Unfortunately during the last couple of uses it switched off automatically halfway through grilling a sandwich. After that it just doesn’t switch on at all. I’ve tried it at several electrical outlets and it’s perfectly clean of anything that could be blocking vents etc so it’s some kind of internal electrical issue. Such a shame, it made healthy eating fun, but now it’s an expensive mistake. The support phone number is disconnected.

Good quality product
Good quality product. A little procey and takes a little bit to get used to, but well build and toasts evenly.

Totally worth the money!
Love this device! Controls are simple, straightforward and easy to use. Clean up is a breeze. Love the ability to either have the top plate heated or not. Just cooked maple flavored sausage patties using both plates heated, then switched to just the lower plate to cook my egg and toast my muffin. Made the best sausage muffin with cheese! Mickie D, eat your heart out!It is now a few days later, and I am having fun with my grill! Buttered the inside of my buns, grilled the brats between them, took the buns out after about a minute or so, finished grilling the brats, and looking forward to enjoying my little creations!

Cooks fast
Cooks fast, evenly, love the digital controls, non stick is really non stick and it looks nice. I only have one complaint, when you lift the top the grease drips past / over the drip, grease catcher. I had a mess on my counter top. The grease catcher isn't wide enough to catch it. Be sure to use a couple paper towels at the back or a paper plate. It's easy to clean other than that. I prop up the front so it drains to the back better. Needs to be redesigned.

It does it all I need! Without toxic teflon
I like that you can use different plates have many uses for this amazing appliance. The device came with the griddle plates which have ridges for grilling on the other side. I bought the waffle plates separately. As you can see in the pictures, it makes it easy to make pancakes, waffles, grill, panini sandwiches and more. The heat distribution is perfect and I only bought it because it has the ceramic coating while others still use toxic teflon coating. I highly recommend.
