For nearly sixty years l have been devoted to televisual and cinematic imagery; from grainy black and white to high definition colour. Yet l am mesmerized by a cinematic experience encapsulated in Fantasia 2000,even more so than Fantasia 1940. Yet both are wonderful productions. How then do l judge, and subsequently,opt for the 2000 version.It all comes down to technology !Fantasia 1940 style is wonderful for its time, stunningly innovative and beautiful, in the context of its time. Fantasia 2000, perhaps detrimental when compared to its predecessor, can be seen in high definition, at its very best. High definition offers a sense of stupendous realism to an animational masterpiece, hence my preference.

The original Fantasia has long been one of my favourite films so I decided to watch the new version. I didn't find it as good as the original but then that was - and is - unique so I wasn't too surprised. It was worth watching and I found myself totally lost in the music and imagery at times. I especially liked the Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue which was definitely up to the standard set by the original Fantasia. The whale sequence was good too as was the finale - Stravinsky's Firebird.The film is definitely worth watching and I think if it was the first one I'd seen I would have ben really impressed but in my opinion you still can't beat the original Fantasia.

This had me laughing, crying and marvelling in rapid succession. A film that has Salvador Dali and Donald Duck among its headliners is bound to be something special but the sheer beauty and inventiveness of this retake on the classic Disney anthology makes it a must-seefor everyone who loves animation and great music. You'll believe a whale can fly as you escape reality into these flights of fantasy.

The DVD was defective in that it would not play other than the small advertising section at the start of play, the main section of the programme wold not initialise.

Looks great in high definition on a large screen with blue tooth headphones.A modern classic that didn't get the attention it deserves. I bought this and the 1930 original that is still far superior despite the 2000 version being computer generated.Classics for all ages

Loved it since DVD time. My personal favorite is the last one Firebird Suite. The US version is ridiculously expensive. The UK version is much reasonable. It plays well on a Region A PS3, even Amazon describes it as Region B only.

I got this by mistake when looking for the original (which i found later at a reasonable price even if it did come via thailand!!)and boy what a mistake it was.It was so short it felt like the only reason they repeated the WHOLE of the sorcerers apprentice was to lengthen the movie (or were they just being lazy?)Likewise the introductions to each number seemed to go on and on (the same reason?).i also felt the visuals let it down in spite of using state of the art techniques.I ended up "gifting " it to my local charity shop.A real let down and should never have cashed in on the originals name,but this is what you get when accountants take over the arts I guess.do not waste your money and try and hunt down the 1941 original which is superior in everyway.

Unsere Tochter ist 2 Jahre alt und ist immer Tiefenentspannt bei dieser DVD. Klassische Musik mit Bildgeschichten.Sie hat noch nie mehr als 2 Lieder gesehen, weil sie einschläft, obwohl sie eine sehr schlechte Schläferin ist!!!

Un dvd bellissimo.Come sempre, la Disney non delude.Come il film precedente Fantasia del 1940, questa pellicola si pone l'obiettivo di porre la musica al centro dello spettacolo, di trasformare la "musica in immagini".
