Q: Are they effective in blocking UV rays?

Sure, I think it blocks out most of the sunlight and the kids really like it.

Q: Can this be used on a hire car without any marks left where it would be installed?

The shades are fixed in place with small velcro strips which are stuck to the door. I haven't tried to remove the velcro strips so cannot say whether these would leave a mark. However, I believe it would be possible to put the blinds in position without the velcro strips and the door would hold them in place anyway. They are very effective in providing shade in the back of the car. It is slightly harder to look to the rear of the car when turning at a junction but still possible.

Q: Would this fit a car with sliding doors like a grand cmax?

It won't fit the side doors of a grand max, unfortunately.

Q: Does it work in the rain?

It is recommended to take down when it rains.
