Surprising sound when you don't have space for extra speakers.

I have a 1966 Triumph Spitfire, and this radio puts out a surprising sound. A little tinny, as you'd expect. At some point, I might add a bass under the dash using the plug in wires. (You must use an amp with the wires, as they will not accept just a speaker alone).

Installed in 2000 Mazda SCRUM

Instructions should be similar to 2000 Suzuki Carry.I had this on the shelf for almost a year before it was time to fiddle with it. In order to take my dash off I had to undo two screws by the ash tray, remove the cup holder assembly, and two screws above the speedometer. Then take the steering column bolts out so you can hang it down a bit or the dash bezel won't fit over the steering assembly. Then you can just pop the friction tabs out with a plastic trim tool (or just pull on it carefully). There may or may not be more screws around where the cup holder went in. Once it is off I removed the screws off the plates that held the radio and cubby hole in, just take the radio screws off, leave the ones for the plastic cubby hole part. Behind the radio I found:1. Lots of dust2. 2 x Antenna plugs (?) - both seemed to work approx the same3. No speaker wires even though my vehicle has two dash speakers (?!)4. Black wire with a round connector attached to the radio chassis (ground)5. Radio connector with three wires. According to quick meter reading (please verify on your own vehicle) A) white or greyish wire - battery thru the fuse boxB) white wire with a black stripe - Switched thru the ignitionC) red wire - I'm told this is switched thru the headlights (I didn't use).Match these to your radio wires and you've got something that will play without any other speakers. I didn't use the sheet metal bracket that came with the unit. So once you pull it all out and disconnect the old radio you can put the dash back together and then wire everything up and just kind of shove the unit into the plastic of your dash and with some gentle adjustment it'll go right in and stay just fine. I used spade connectors so I could remove the radio in case I need to take the dash off later. Wiring on mine was black to black, white to yellow, white w/blk stripe to red, connect the antenna, blue goes nowhere. When using the TF or micro SD slot I tried an old 4gb card I had, it was name brand memory but older class 4 chip, should have been fine. I tried formatting it FAT, FAT32, NTFS, nothing worked. I tried a different card I had mp3s on, a 32gb name brand class 4 from a year or two ago, fired right up in there, no fiddling. Checking the format it shows to be FAT32 so that's what I'd try and if it just won't work try a different card. We may never know what the difference is, good thing most of us have a few of these laying around and you can bob over to Walmart and grab one for $10 if you can't lay hands on one. If you get this stereo I'd recommend trying loading up MP3s. Have your resident geek load a few of your old albums you own on there and you won't even be pirating. That way you always have your tunes to listen to even if your phone craps out. Anyways super fun I hope it lasts a while because it might hard to wire up anything that requires ext speakers like every other unit.

Okay For Your Kei

If you have a Kei truck that came with the original radio that has the integrated speaker, this is a fantastic easy swap replacement! I was not expecting much when I bought this extremely low-priced sound system for my 1996 Suzuki Carry, so it wouldn't have taken much more than "works" to keep me from sending it back. But it far surpassed that low bar.The sound is clear and doesn't have high volume distortion but don't expect a concert hall experience. Bluetooth connection works as intended. If you need help follow along with the video in the product description but it's fairly straightforward and hooked up to my android phone without an issue. The turner knob is a little cheap feeling but that's something I expected at the price. Some things I noticed from other reviews--If the clock and radio settings keep needing to be reset, chances are the power wires are reversed. I haven't had an issue with losing those settings in the month it's been installed. Also, there are twelve presets for radio stations, not just four, however, it's setup kind of clumsily so it may appear that there are only four. Check the instructions for how to switch around. And finally, this radio is far from "junk."As long as you keep your expectations in line, this radio is a fantastic value for the money. I would highly recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to run speakers in a vehicle that doesn't already have speakers, which was the main reason I bought this unit.

Works ok

The stereo works ok, sounds good but the unit will not hold it's memory so I have to reset the stations all the time. Kind of a pain.

station selection

Doesn't pick up stations, at least not in this area. Return process underway

Great little radio

Works great in old cars needing a radio for very little money

Great for the money

If you are looking for a car stereo with built in speakers you have about 2 options. I was skeptical, but after the 3 wire install it powered right up and so far works great. Sounds quality is better than I expected but obviously isn't top level due to the size of the speakers. The radio tuner works well and the Bluetooth pairs instantly to my pixel 7 phone. I appreciate the matte non glossy finish and it looks right at home in most 90s to 2000s vehicles. Would buy again. Id give it 4 stars for quality and sound, but since it's only $30 it earns 5 stars.
